“Can’t even imagine having to sacrifice everything to raise siblings, huh?” She said with a sigh. “At least you’ve got someone to remind you that you’re not Atlas and that you shouldn’t carry the world on your shoulders,” Valentina pointed out and then chuckled. “People think that because I’m wealthy that I haven’t lived. That I don’t know what it’s like to struggle. Sometimes you’re not born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you’re force fed it.”
“That’s been my life. Giving up nearly everything and experiences for them. But they’re old enough now I shouldn’t have too. It’s just gaining that all back that’s .. a challenge of sorts.” She admitted with a small shrug. It was probably the most honest she was about it all. “Yeah, thankfully. I shouldn’t rely on someone that much, but .. It’s needed.” Looking towards her Nani nodded, running a hand through her hair. “Fair enough, and understood.”
It took everything out of Ariel not to aww out loud, so, she stopped herself just in time to only do a little bounce in place. “That’s about the cutest thing I’ve heard all day! Oh dear. It’s a mission all in itself to find a roommate you actually get along with but, the fact you get to do that with the person you love? You’ve won the lottery, girl!” She chuckled “I’d love to meet them some day, I’m sure they’ll be as great as you. Nothing beats having siblings watching your back.” The redhead made a motion over her mouth. “My lips are sealed…except for ice-cream.” Ariel smiled as they made their way to the salon. “That just means you’ll have a better time than you expected; there’s nothing cooler than getting to experience something for the first time all over again!”
Nani wasn’t used to the whole gushing around about a romance, but it was nearly impossible not to grin hearing the other. “Thanks. I’m still learning how to do the whole cute thing. It is a rather lucky thing though to come home and wake up to my best friend everyday.” she stated with a shrug. “I’m sure you’ll get that spark in your life too. I just got lucky, Trusty’s too stubborn to give up.” she stated with a small laugh. Looking towards her she tilted her head. “You have a few siblings yourself don’t you? By a few an army, so I guess if anyone is going to understand it’s you.” she stated with a small laugh. Nani nodded. “I guess you have a point there.”
“Oh, don’t say that. Trusty wouldn’t try to hunt you down unless he thought it was good for your spirit or something…” Moana chewed the inside of her cheek a bit. “I dunno. I am having a hard time focusing with this weather. I think I am losing my mind a little bit?”
Nani laughed shaking her head. “I like to think Trusty knows me well enough to know my spirit will be too stubborn to completely move along with Stitch and Lilo running around here.” She pointed out with a small scrunch of her nose. Nodding she looked towards her. “You’re not wrong. I .. can’t handle this much cold.”
“Not a big fan of the cold, huh? Here, I have some hot coco to share if you’d like,” Marie offered as she lifted up her thermos with a small smile. Although she was thrilled with the strange weather, she was aware that not many people we’re enjoying it, which she very much understood.
“Coming from Hawaii, not at all. I prefer warmer weather a great deal more than this.” she stated looking around and seeing the frost everywhere just made her shiver. Looking towards her she nodded slowly. “Yeah, that doesn’t sound all that bad.”
“Yeesh, even post-mortem you’d mother me? I’m terrified already,” Lilo joked with a laugh. “We’ll stick together. Besides, I’m pretty cool with Cat. She made me special tamales with the mole sauce–y’know aside the batch she made for us,” She beamed proudly. “Yeah! That’s the movie. And that, is exactly what’s happening outside. Pudge predicted it.”
“You should be. You’ll never really escape my look out, so that’s something to fear.” She stated with a small shrug, a small grin spread across her face. Nani nodded. “Well that’s something I like to hear. So tamales are something on your diet ? I’ll have to figure out how to male them someday. They are pretty amazing.” She talked more so out loud. “That’s just a movie, Lilo. I’m sure there is a reason behind all this.”
“I heard that.” Trusty grinned as he rounded a corner with two cups of hot chocolate in his hands. “It ain’t gonna happen, but if it did then I’d make sure to talk to ya every day through a ouija board or somethin’.” He joked, handing her a cup.
Nani perked up hearing his voice. Turning to face him with a small laugh. “I didn’t think you’d be back to quickly.” Rolling her eyes she took her cup of cocoa and hummed happily. “An ouija board? Well, that’s pretty romantic you’re going to still keep in contact with me. I guess I can’t complain all too much now can I?” She asked with a small laugh.
“If you die, I’m going spirit hunting with Trusty,” Lilo teased as she limped in, huddled by a blanket to keep herself warm. “This reminds me of that one movie with Jake Gyllenhaal and Emmy Rossum where they’re in New York and it all freezes over and sh–stuff.”
“And then when you two find me I can mother you from the dead. Sounds like a plan to me. Someone has to keep you two together.” She sighed shaking her head softly towards her. “Day After Tomorrow or something right?”
Growing up in warmth, and running on a beach, snow? Snow was anything but Nani’s friend. Wrapping a whole comforter around her she walked down the hallway till she heard someone else. “I’m going to freeze and die here, probably have my spirit hunted by Trusty…”
Trusty rolled his eyes. Of course she would use every opportunity to remind him that she’d warned him, but at the same time he felt a bit comforted knowing that Nani was so intent on making sure he was safe. Holding up his hands he laughed. “Ya the one bringin’ it up, I’m only commentin’.” He wasn’t embarrassed but the state of his apartment, especially since it wasn’t the first time she’d seen it, but he was a little confused by the smile on her face and not getting a lecture about how throwing dirty clothes on the floor was a fire hazard or something equally as ridiculous. “We could start with the bedroom since that’s where all of my important things are. Plus, I think I’ll need a few shirts from the closet if nothin’ else.” He chuckled.
Nani laughed shaking her head. Taking his hands that were up to pull them down and wrap them around her middle. Leaning up she pressed a small kiss to his lips. “You’re always commenting about something.” Rolling her eyes she laughed a bit, her attention moving to his place that felt like a home she didn’t know she had. Nodding she followed him. “You’ll need a few of those, yeah. And than a few more than just that so I can wear them around.” She stated with a grin as she playfully nudged him.
Her eyes widened. “Ask him out? Oh man, I don’t know if I would be any good at that….” She could already see herself saying something stupid or being too vague and confusing him. “Crushes are awful, Nani. I mean great because it was good for you! But awful for me. I don’t think I like it very much….mostly because I don’t know how horribly it’s gonna end.”
Nani shrugged. “I mean you don’t have to ask him out… like a date out, just a hang out.. things.” She tried to word it in a way that didn’t seem like too much for her friend. Or at least something simple? Giving her a small smile she shook her head. “It wasn’t always great and perfectly figured out. I pushed Trusty away for awhile. There was a time when we just.. weren’t us. It’s work, and it’s trial and error.”
